Winter Party

Spending a shoulder season in the remote Icelandic Westfjords town of Ísafjörður.
Witnessing its shift from end of winter to beginning of summer.
Meeting locals, immigrants and passersby.
Getting a lift from the star of a crime-show that I watched on Netflix years ago in my living room in Tel-Aviv.
Surrounded, embraced and trapped by mountains and fjords.
This tiny conclave being the entire world for a short while.
Day trips with people who have cars to bathe in a geothermal hot spring or see a waterfall without any tourists.
Daily routine of sauna, cold water baths, and a Bragðarefur ice-cream from the diner.
A visually stunning contrast between the clean natural elements, and the colorful, derelict buildings and tools.
Between homes and countries, a little winter party is happening at the edge of the world.

A special shoutout to Annska, Vaida, Alex and Tyler - all of whom have made this time and this town more special than it already was, I’m grateful that our paths crossed.
